Azhagiya Tamizh Magan

After listening to the trailer (I don’t know how anyone can tolerate watching Vijay!) of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan here continuously for almost an hour now, I must say all the songs seem to be good. πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to listen to the songs fully. Eagerly waiting for Monday! πŸ™‚

Btw, this is my 200th post πŸ˜€

Sanjay’s Concert

After missing concert after concert of T M Krishna and Sanjay Subrahmanyan for one whole month πŸ™ , I finally went to Sanjay’s concert last Friday. The very thought of listening to Sanjay live after a long time had me excited the whole day and as expected, the excitement doubled up once the concert began. πŸ™‚ With M.A.Sundaresan accompanying Sanjay on the violin, do I even have to say how the concert turned out to be? πŸ™‚

Starting off with karuNai kadale in Kalyani, Sanjay then sang nannu kanna talli in Sindhukannada. A nice Reetigowlai Alapana followed next. Right after he started the song Paripalayamaam in Reetigowlai, I left the concert since I had some work and came back when he had started singing an alapana of Danyasi. After a couple of songs (Japa kusuma in Danyasi and Koniyadedu in Kokiladhwani) came the main piece of the concert – Maragatavalleem in Kambhoji. I got to listen to yet another wonderful Kambhoji by Sanjay! The icing on the cake was the Raagam Taanam Pallavi in Priyadarshini raagam that he sang right after the Kambhoji! I happened to know the existence of a raagam called Priyadarshini only on that day and it was amazing! It was only after this RTP that I came to know that the song that I had missed during the time I was not at the concert was Kamalamba navavarnam in Sahana replete with alapana, neraval and swarams! I missed Sanjay’s Sahana!!!! πŸ™ All happiness at listening to a wonderful Priyadarshini gone! πŸ™

After listening to aarukkum adangadha in Begada that he sang next, I got reminded of some of the wonderful Begada alapanas of Sanjay that I had listened to a few years back. I wish I get to hear him sing Begada as the main piece soon. The last song of the concert was a very beautiful Tillana in Ananda Bhairavi, yet another favourite raga of mine.

After attending such an excellent concert I was left confused as to which concert should I go to on Monday, Sanjay’s or TMK’s? Why did both of them have to sing on the same day at the same time? πŸ™ Want to know whose concert did I finally go to on Monday? Wait for the next post πŸ˜‰

Passion Rediscovered!

If there was one thing that I looked forward to while travelling by bus to college, it was reading books during the travel time. Whenever I used to read an unputdownable novel when travelling by bus in the morning, during the day, the only thought in my mind would be when I can I continue reading the book. πŸ™‚ During breaks between classes, whenever the lecturer gave a free period, during lunch or even when the lecturer pauses for a few minutes, my hands would instantly go for the book and even if it meant I would get the time to read just a few lines, I never missed the opportunity to continue reading the novel. πŸ™‚ I did the same thing in school too ever since my class 7! I used to manage my time efficiently between reading novels and attending classes. πŸ˜› But, things changed when I was in the latter part of my third year. The number of books that I read while travelling by bus reduced and I started sleeping in the bus. πŸ™ Earlier I used to hate sleeping in bus. Though I did read a few books in bus even during the final year of my college and during the past one year of my work, I never really read it with as much enthusiasm as earlier. Besides, the number of books that I read in the last 2 years is very less compared to earlier. I hardly read 15 books in the past 2 years!! πŸ™ I would partially blame my addiction to reading blogs for this!
