Oru Naal Oru Pozhudhu

Though I have heard that Andhi Mandhaarai is one of A.R.Rahman’s best, blah, blah, (Well, we Rahman fans say that about almost all his songs πŸ™‚ ) to tell the truth, I have not listened to it much inspite of having all the songs with me. πŸ™ Thanks to Adiya’s comment for my earlier post, I decided to listen to all the songs from the movie today and I have got addicted to the song ‘Oru Naal Oru Pozhudhu’ (Of course, I have heard this one earlier too)! What a lovely song! Can’t stop listening to it! Thank you, Adiya!
There is soooo much left to explore in A.R.Rahman’s existing compositions itself. I have almost all the compositions of Rahman with me thanks to the A.R.Rahman Fans Yahoo group. I think I have to spend some 2-3 days to listen to all his compositions that I have not listened to much.
Talking about Rahman’s music, I can’t wait for the audio of ‘Sivaji’ to get released!

a early bird version most of the songs sung by A.R.R himself. But i cannot guarantee that it might fit for ur mood like andhi mandhaarai.. but its good.

    hey hi…

sivaji will definetely not be the best of arr or even come close …
but no doubt it will top the charts, sivaji numbers will be the prayer song for every arr fan … but not for long, may be 200 days or 400 days … definetely not more than that

its arr’s melodies that will stand out anyday, even today i can listen to arr+maniratnam songs but i wont listen to arr+rajni songs like muthu padayappa or baba … i went crazy about all these songs when the movie released but it wasn’t for long …

even today arr’s pudiya mugam, roja, the legend of bhagat singh are amazing works

yaaru paa adhu.. sudden eppadi sollurathu..

konjam suthi suthi vanthiga song kaytoo paruinga.
i understand when u compose song for power hero composition is subjected to adhere certain cardinality rules of that hero.. like mass song, thathuvaum song kind.

rajiyamma is a haunting number but it just people didnt get into that kind of music thats it..

yethara oh thara – Sharhan movvie yaar. reached out hindi audience but its orginal tamil version in baba didn;t reach audience innu sonna adhu eppaid.. its just audience didn’t pick that in that occasion.

    but good observation thou..

True. For some songs the picturization, language usage, subject, lyrics everything makes a lot of difference to some tunes.

ARR’s music is like haunting experience and it is universal agreement that only after repeated hearing you start to fall in love and his music haunts you like mad. This is one part.

What I have noticed is during pudhiyamugam, roja, bombay, ARR gave complete wholesome album where all the songs were a landmark kinds, whereas after some time we started liking 2-3 songs per album types, wherein these 2-3 itself were really class apart. I would say, there was a peak time for ARR and reduced a bit later.

Today if we ask some college goers, they would say, Rang De Basanti, Guru, types. So opinions vary with time. Each type of music reaches out to different types of people of different ages.

    T.U.Dinesh,
Welcome to my blog! Seems like you are a fan of Rahman too!
Let me know after listening to Sivaji’s songs whether you feel it is one of Rahman’s best or not.

    Adiya,

    Ramya,
Nice observation. But, why don’t you listen to all the songs apart from the 2-3 songs that you found were a class apart atleast now? I am sure you will find that those are a class apart too πŸ™‚

    Brindha,
    Seekaram kaeLu!

    Ranjhith,
Listened to it twice or thrice yesterday itself πŸ™‚ and I liked it!

    @ adiya

suthi suthi might be the best in arr’s melody for rajni, but thats not a song thats good enough …

i feel arr – rajni combo was best in the title song of muthu (oruvan oruvan mudalali)

    @ aparna

thanks !!! am a big fan of arr and a bigger fan of superstar … am sure i ll go crazy over sivaji’s songs but that wont be for over a year …
even today except for gentleman, i wouldnt want to hear any of arr+shankar songs … they just top the charts at the time of release but wont be a memorable one … but right from roja to yuva (guru excluded) i would listen to every arr + maniratnam song, same is the case of arr + rajiv menon and the list goes on …

i bet sivaji wont be an ever lasting album (and am a huge fan of arr and superstar)

    Dinesh,
Alright let’s wait & see how good Sivaji songs turn out to be πŸ™‚
& hey, what do you mean by Guru songs excluded? Let’s see if you include that to the list after sometime maybe. After all, people say A.R.Rahman’s music take time (God knows how long!) to grow on you! πŸ™‚

    Ramya,
Why no comments further? πŸ™‚ Come on, I may be able to convince you to feel that almost all the songs of A.R.Rahman are a class apart πŸ˜›
