Yet another awesome concert by my favourite combo – Sanjay & Varadarajan! There were only songs on Lord Krishna in this concert. Neelambari varnam, Ganamurti swarams, Sri Ranjani alapana, the half an hour long Khamas, and the 1 hour long (excluding Tani Avartanam) RTP & of course, the few minutes of taanam in Sahana were the pick of the concert for me. With concert after concert of Sanjay’s turning out to be such excellent and memorable ones, these days, I just don’t seem to be interested in listening to any other singer! Currently listening to some amazing Poornachandrika swarams by Sanjay!

    Aparna,
Checked sometime back to see whether you have done the obvious thing of posting your comments on the master’s last concert. I was fortunate to be there right at 6pm till the end at around 9:10pm and enjoyed every moment of that stunning Charukesi RTP, especially the stunning ragamalika in the Tanam of the RTP. For me the Khamas was very special.
Waiting for the 31st concert at Warren Road, Pillaiyar Koil.

This time it was Shubhapanthuvarali in the Tanam – I am told! πŸ™‚ But I am still inclined to think that it was maybe both Shubhapanthuvarali-sh and Kumudakriya-ish πŸ™‚

    Sathej,

I too thought it was Shubapantuvarali in the Tanam. There was also a Punnagavarali in the Tanam. Anyone who attended the concert can clarify on the ragams in the Tanam. the Sahana and Bhairavi pieces in the Tanam were too good.

Shubhapantuvarali or Kumudakriya – whatever it was, it was good πŸ˜›

    Hi Aparna,

I was at the concert and it was out of the world. I try to attend as many of SS’s concerts as possible – my friends tell me that I would be reported shortly for stalking! This concert was 3 hrs and 10mins long and at the end of it, I felt like listening some more. He is amazing and so was S Varadharajan.
