As I am now seeing some photos taken two and a half years or so back, the nostalgic mood seems to be making a come-back once again. 🙂 At the same time, a scene from ‘The Namesake’ also comes to my mind. The scene where Ashoke takes his son Gogol to beach and realizes only after reaching as far away from the shore as possible, that they don’t have their camera with them and tells Gogol something like (I don’t remember the exact words now 🙁 ) ‘You have to remember this then. You have to remember that we came to a place from where there was nowhere to go.’ That was a scene that I really liked! I liked watching it in the movie more than reading it in the book. Not all unforgettable moments in life can be captured on a camera…
You seem to like the movie a lot, yeah I know the scene you are talking about.
Yeah all kind of memories come back, and you wish to be a part of them yet again 🙂
More like, some moments are caught just as well by the mind as by a camera.
But then, a camera can never capture the context, unless you are using flickr or picasa to store it, where you can annotate the photo, thus capturing the context as well.
Waaha!
And oh, keep the hot streak going.
Thats something in The Namesake that immensely touched me. Very very poignant..Haven’t read that in the book as yet (though I have the Namesake with me for quite some time now). But watched it in the movie sometime back on TV..those are the moments that perhaps Hemingway attempts to paraphrase in his quote (a quote that I have mentioned so many times now!)..
All good books are alike in that they are truer than if they had really happened and after you are finished reading one you will feel that all that happened to you and afterwards it all belongs to you; the good and the bad, the ecstasy, the remorse, and sorrow, the people and the places and how the weather was. – Ernest Hemingway
The way he ends with ‘….and how the weather was’ is really mystically touching..
Sathej
Hey…U spoke my words..for some strange reason i was lost in thoughts….Reminiscence … I wished i owned some ting like a time machine 🙁
Yogesh,
I don’t think I like the movie a lot. Just liked some scenes
Puranjoy,
True. Btw, what happened to your blog?? 😛
Sathej,
That’s a good quote!
Ponnarasi,
Hey how are you? 🙂 Oh. Someday you might wish that you had a time machine to come back to this day too 😉
It’s in a chemically induced coma. When the time is opportune, I’ll wake it up, and we’ll have more fun together.
Puranjoy,
Let’s see whether you wake it up or not. I remember what happened to your previous blog 😛
