Caught in the jam

After having suffered caught in the traffic jam on Old Mahabalipuram yesterday afternoon, I thought about what could have been done by all the IT companies and the colleges on the road to avoid the jam.
Considering the fact that there was a traffic jam till only before Tidel Park, the reason for the jam was obviously, all the companies’ buses starting at almost the same time. If all the companies that have large number of buses and the colleges had co-ordinated amongst themselves and each one had started their buses after an interval of say, some 15 minutes, after another companies’ buses started, I don’t think the traffic jam on the road would have happened and everyone wouldn’t have had to suffer because of it and the Chennai heat.
What do you people say?
Forgot to add the most important point here: The buses of the company closest to Tidel Park should have started first followed by the others with the buses of the one that is farthest starting last. Couldn’t all this have been arranged in a few phone calls itself?

Quite a simple problem to solve! But,as is the practice in our country, everybody simply blames others for the problems without working out a solution.I once saw a news item showing how IT Companies do not do enough to dispose e-waste efficently. This article reminds me of that.Thank you, Aparna, for giving me a topic to write on tomorrow if not today.

Visiting your blog for the first time. Wonderful theme.
And on the topic, this is the beauty of our country. We write software to monitor and maintain traffic in places in US and our own roads are choked.

hmm..What about the Flyways ?? There were some plans of constructing flyways in Chennai rite ?? Is it being put into practice or is the idea, just going to rot, like any other ‘indianish idea’ ?
