It took me two long weeks to overcome my laziness and type the songs list and write a small post on the concerts. What I did was type it in a word doc and without saving it, cut and paste it to wordpress. Just as I clicked on ‘Save and Continue Editing’ button, there was some problem with the net and my post never got saved! š To think that I have to write the post again! Anyway, here goes.

You, of course, know what I will be raving about in this concert first. š What a beautiful Sahana alapana it was! But his rendition of Sahana navAvarnam didn’t appeal to me much. Ever since I listened to navAvarnams and panchabhoota kritis rendered by DKJ, nobody else’s rendition of it appeals to me as much as his does. Sanjay’s Ananda naTana prakAsham is, of course, an exception.
It was refreshing to hear Sanjay sing Todi after an overdose of TMK’s Todis. I absolutely enjoyed the Todi. I guess Brindavanam idhuvo might soon get added to my list of favourites sung by Sanjay.
The next concert of Sanjay here is only after 3 weeks! But, the Dec Season will start by then. Eagerly waiting for the Season to begin!

The last concert of TNS that I went to was in Dec 2006. His voice wasn’t that great on that day. So I left the concert after 2-3 songs. In this concert, his voice was fine. But the concert failed to hold my interest after the first 3 songs. In fact, I absolutely loved the Sri alapana and the Hamsanandi piece. Since swarams have always been the one thing that I have enjoyed in TNS’ concerts, I wanted to stay till Kambhoji, the raaga chosen for elaboration, swarams. But, I got so bored that I left when he was singing the Kambhoji neraval.
Wasn’t there for Sanjay. TNS’ concert – well the Brovavamma that day was the pick for me. His Sangathis and leisurely exploration of Manji was so emotive.

Sathej,
I found it to be a bit too leisurely
Well, I’ve not heard TNS sing Manji live before. And the leisure didn’t matter to me, infact liked it:) but yes, heard that many found the entire concert too leisurely!
