Sangeetha swarangaL from the movie ‘Azhagan’- This song sung so beautifully by SPB and Sandhya (came to know her name from Google search only. What other songs has she sung?) is one of my all-time favourites! More than remembering since when I started loving this song as much as I do now, the one thing that I will always remember about this song is watching this song on TV when I was a kid and wondering what on earth will two people have to talk about all night! 😛 Besides, I used to like the Doordarshan music and I used to watch this song just for listening to it!
With SPB and Sandhya’s humming followed by the veeNai, this song starts off perfectly. The soft beats throughout, especially at 1:57 when the beats seem so perfectly in sync with the rocking of the rocking chair where you have Bhanupriya lost in conversation, SPB going mayakkam – the mayakkam in which the couple is, couldn’t have been expressed better! 😉 , the lyrics (too lazy to type the lyrics 😛 ) seemingly like a conversation between the couple, SPB & Sandhya’s voices sounding so soft, like a whisper, matching the romantic mood of the song, the veeNai, the rhythmic pattern of the lyrics – while the 1st and 3rd stanzas have exactly 2 words in each line (the lines en veeTTil iravu & konjam nee sollitthaa are exceptions), the 2nd and 4th stanzas have 3 words only in the first and last lines with the remaining lines too having only 2 words – I love it all!
The only complaint that I have about this song is it just of 3 minutes duration only! The DD music takes up another 20 seconds or so!! Every time the song ends, I am left wishing it didn’t have to end so soon! 😉
