There are times when you are lost in the beauty of music so much that all you would want to do is just listen to it and do nothing else. That’s how I feel right now, completely mesmerized by Sanjay’s Nattakurunji. As I listen to the beauty of the raagam unfold with every passing second, I am falling in love with it more and more. I have lost track of the number of times I listened to it this week. I am already listening to it for the third time today! I can’t wait to go home and listen to more of Nattakurunji – Sanjay’s vazhi maraitthirukkudhe and jagadeesa (not this version but the one from his Chatushram CD) and M.S.Gopalakrishnan’s Nattakurunji varnam (This one is the best!).
Nattaikurinji….well a nice Ragam indeed 🙂 Nattaikurinji enbar three Raga Pallavi by TNS is one CD I bought recently. MSG’s Varnam? any link please? don’t particularly remember having heard it anywhere….
Sathej
🙂 Love both,esp Vazhi Marainthirrukudhe.At the moment,listening to Vanajaksha (Reethigowlai),alternating between Sanjay’s and Gayathri’s versions of it.Partial to his,though.Hehe.
Sathej,
I meant the varnam, chalamela played by MSG. It’s available in one of his cassettes.
Niveditha,
🙂 That’s great! Reetigowlai is another blissful raagam! 🙂

Ramya,
Welcome to my blog! 🙂 Thank you. Yeah kaNNamoochi is one of my fav songs in Nattakurunji too
i am completely jealous of you chennai guys! i stay in pune and carnatic music (spec. sanjay’s) is my life but here in some remote desolate corner of the wretched earth (lol!) we have like one decent concert a year. Sanjay came in 2007, tm this year, sudha in 2006, im starving for good music!
yo! thanks for the links………so unfortunate “non-chennai” mites have access to music too!
Shruthi,
Welcome to my blog! 🙂 Hope more concerts happen there & hope you enjoyed listening to the songs in the links 🙂
I totally agree about Vazhimaraithirukudhe. The Nattaikurinji he sings is of the highest quality and it’s extremely moving.
Shripathi,
Yes! Welcome to my blog! 🙂
Aparana,
NAtaKurinji( JagadEsha or Budhamashrayami) is at its best when M.D.Ramanthan renders it in the vilambita kAla with his resonating voice ,bringing additional beauty to the raaga.Do you have any views on this?
Venkat,
I have listened to MDR’s budhamashrayami a few times and it was indeed great.
