kaNgaL iraNDaal

More than 3 months it has been since I first listened to this song and liked it instantly and still my liking for this song has not reduced even a bit. If anything, my liking for it has only grown more. πŸ™‚ It’s not often that non-ARR songs continue to enthuse and excite me even after listening to it umpteen number of times over a long period of time.

The first time when I listened to the song was when the Reetigowlai that caught my ears when I was channel-surfing made me pause and watch the song. But I didn’t like the actors on screen and didn’t like the song too that much and came to the conclusion that this would be a song I wouldn’t watch again! But when I saw the song again during yet another channel surfing, I felt like giving it a try and paused the surfing without having the faintest idea that in the coming days I would do channel surfing all through the day just in the hope of seeing this song! πŸ™‚ But the channel surfing in the coming days was totally worth it since that song kept playing on all the channels so very often.

The simple and catchy tune made it so easy to sing and it was only a matter of time before I was singing the entire song all through the day!

Though the simple and beautiful music was the one that made me fall in love with this song, watching this song again and again and again made me start liking the lyrics and most parts of the picturization too. The actors on screen didn’t matter anymore. It is one of those songs where the music, lyrics and the picturization gels together so perfectly!

kaNgaL ezhudhum iru kaNgaL ezhudhum oru vaNNa kavidhai kaadhal dhaanaa
oru vaartthai illaiye idhil oasai illaiye idhai iruLilum paDitthiDa muDigiradhe

paesa eNNi sila naaL arugil varuvaen
pinbu paarvai poadhum ena naan ninaitthae nagarvaen aemaaRRi

and many more lovely lines!

Jai ringing the bell in his cycle to catch Swati’s attention even as she is searching for him and the look on her face when she sees him right behind her is one of the sweetest scenes. πŸ™‚ I like the way the music builds up a kind of suspense when Samudrakani moves towards Swati in the temple.

This is surely going to be a song that will be cherished by me forever. πŸ™‚

am i the only one who imagines “lyrical” emotions with some imaginary sweet girl whenever i listen to songs like this? i wonder what people who have actually found love in their life do when they listen to such songs? feel these emotions about their partners or is it too poetical to be imagined with real life characters?

The way the song has been shot is also very good. It looks very very natural. This is one such songs, as you said, will be as good as the first time whenever you listen to it. [;)]

I am also a ardent ARR fan. But, I do hear songs of other MDs just for the pleasure of hearing new compositions.

James Vasanthan enthralled me with his very fresh compositions – Kangal Irandal being the top alongside “Kadhal Siluvaiyil”.

As far Harris is concerned though he generally sounded very repetitive he really madea difference in Varanam Aayiram. The lyrics of Thamarai adds to the pleasure.

“Nizhal Pola vidamal unnai thodarvenadi, pugazh pola padamal pattu nagarvenadi” in the song Mundhinam paarthane takes the cake. Also the complete lyrics of the song “Anal Mele Panithuli” very well sung by Sudha Raghunathan which again is a very different composition by Harris.
