I still remember the first time I came to know you, Blog. Prabhu had introduced us, via the Alaipayuthe series, I have been a fan of you and your writer ever since. As weird as it sounds, those posts about one of my favorite films helped me through what was a difficult period. Maybe someday I’ll tell you all about it, maybe not; but know this, I owe you one.
Sorry Blog, for not keeping in touch often enough of late, what with one thing or another. I promise I will be the good fan once some of the forthcoming commitments are taken care of. But let me assure you, even if I haven’t said “Hi”, I have been watching you from afar, just that I have been quiet.
So here’s to you, Blog! Have a wonderful next year, and many many more.
Congrats on the 2nd anniversary of your blog. I have been a regular reader of your blog for around 7 months now and the only reason for that is “SANJAY SANJAY SANJAY”.
I am die-hard fan of IR and MSV and NOT a fan of ARR or Mani π
Heyy..
Rock on!! And hey have you been to sathyam lately? Did you catch that trailer for the movie “Margazhi Ragam” featuring Bombay Jayshree and TM Krishna?? It due for release on Dec 18! Ensoi..
Vishnu,
Now you know my blog is just 2 yrs young π
Sundaresan,
A very belated welcome to my blog! π Thank you!
Rukesh,
Thanks for the link. Read it now.
Puranjoy,
Hereβs a big thanks to you on behalf of my blog! π It, of course, sounds weird to know that my posts helped you! I do remember your comment on the last part of those series of posts. But, glad to know that those had been of help to you, in whatever way.
I am a person so much identified with IR and MSV music, ARR music sounds “un-musical” to me. Assembling too many instruments, using latest gadgets and technology and using untrained voices is not music for me. The pronounciation of Tamizh is so messed up in his songs, it is unpardonable.
My definition of a good film song is that it should be soothing with good lyrics, good tune and good singing. All these three were the trademark of IR and MSV songs.
MSV had Kannadasan, TMS and PS
IR had Vairamuthu, SPB and SJ
The only ARR songs that I like are:
“En Mel Vizhunda…” – Kapi raagam
“Thoda Thoda….” – Sankarabaranam raagam
Talking of the last post in that series, you had put out a request for the Alaipayuthe song that Shalini sings to Madhavan in their house–did anything come out of it? Or, have you found it any other way? I would still love to watch it.
Sridhar,
I can’t believe that someone is actually saying in my blog that Rahman’s music is ‘unmusical’! Anyway, tastes differ from person to person π
Puranjoy,
No π I would love to watch it too. But, I am not able to find it anywhere π
Congrats! π Keep writing. One of the very first blogs that I ever started reading and still continue to do so π
Sathej
