Books, Movies, Music, TV

Is what I spent the weekend with! After having had a great weekend, I am not at all complaining about having to work late today also! 🙂

Movies
I finally managed to watch the 2 movies that I have wanted to watch for a long time now, but somehow kept missing, Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai, and I liked both the movies very much. I watched these two back to back on Saturday. 🙂
Yesterday, I watched Bunty Aur Babli for the third time. Wish Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee act in more movies! The main reasons for which I like or rather I don’t find this movie boring is Abhishek and Rani and the music. Though many say that the movie is sans logic or something like that, I like it. Makes for a good time pass.

Books
I am now reading all the Perry Mason novels again since it has been quite sometime since I read those and I am finding that I am enjoying it even more now!
I spent the rest of the Sunday evening reading a Perry Mason novel, ‘The Case of the Caretaker’s Cat’. Having completed it yesterday itself, I have now started reading another Perry Mason novel, ‘The Case of the Angry Mourner’. ‘The Case of the Caretaker’s Cat’ has quite a few nice moments like the one where Della Street is called on to the witness stand to answer if Mason had brought to her home the caretaker’s cat and the way she cleverly answers or rather doesn’t answer the question makes the Judge himself remark that part of this lady’s cleverness must have had a role in Mason’s success. 🙂 The way she manages to surprise even Mason by acting so convincingly as though it is their real honeymoon when in fact, they are just on a mock honeymoon, is something you would enjoy a lot if you are an ardent fan of Perry Mason and Della Street like me.

Music
Between movies and books, I did manage to listen to some music. After all, how can I spend even a single day without listening to music? 😉 The songs that I am hooked onto currently are for a change, neither Carnatic nor A.R.Rahman’s!
To name a few, ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from the movie Don, ‘Beedi’ from Omkara and a few Ilayaraja songs like ‘Pon Maalai Pozhudhu’, ‘Guruvayoorappa’, ‘Sundari Neeyum’, ‘Sorgame Endralum’ (one of the few songs in which I find Ilayaraja’s voice bearable) and ‘Pani Vizhum Malarvanam’.

TV
I watched ‘Koffee with Anu’ after a long time. I loved actress cum danseuse, Shobana’s costume! The bright red colour of her Salwar Kameez was lovely! Mani Ratnam too spoke about her in the show. Thank God I watched it. I did quite a bit of channel surfing too and luckily got to watch so many nice ‘old’ and not so old Hindi and Tamil songs. In the ‘Traffic Jam’ programme on Sun Music, the songs of K.J.Yesudas were featured. It was one full hour of wonderful songs like Mazhai Varudhu, Thanga Maganingu, En Iniya Pon Nilave and lots more. The ‘VJ’ of that show (Bala is his name?) did a very bad job of hosting the show. He kept using the words vandhu, vandhutthu pattheengannaa so many times that I got bored of it.

Now, time to get back to work. 🙁 For all those having their vacation and those who have left early, have a great evening, folks!
