The year that was!

A major part of the first half of 2008 saw me being down with boredom. And then, there was this bloggers’ block. The no. of unfinished posts lying in my drafts written during that period stands testimony to that. These apart, though 2008 was better than 2007, still quite a few things which I wish had not happened, happened. But hey, now is not the time to dwell on all those. There are lots of moments to cherish and a lot of other things thinking about which makes me so happy.

The craze for Aruna Sairam’s singing!

When I came to know that T.M.Krishna’s concert at Music Academy was on the same day as Aruna Sairam’s, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Will I even get a ticket for TMK’s concert?’ Having heard many say that people queue up outside Music Academy as early as 5:30 in the morning (!!), I knew it was going to be difficult to get a ticket. When I asked the person at the ticket counter a few days before the concert, he too confirmed the same. So, on the day of the concert, at 5 am sharp, my dad and sister went to Music Academy to find there were already 3 of them waiting. Seems a lady came as early as 4:30 itself! By the time I went there at 6:30 or so, the place was already full. How popular Aruna Sairam is!

Music Academy has to really be commended for making excellent arrangements for those who had come to buy the tickets. Neatly-arranged chairs for those coming in and ensuring that people are seated in the order in which they came, serving coffees at around 6 o’ clock for those waiting, issuing tokens at around 7 am with the number of tickets (the no. of tickets were restricted to 3 per head on that day initially) and the price of the tickets written on it, opening the ticket counter at 8:20 and calling out the token nos. in order and issuing the tickets – the whole thing was very well-organized.

I guess my sister and I must have been the only ones who didn’t go for Aruna Sairam’s concert despite having tickets. We did go for the last 35 minutes of her concert to find that the auditorium was packed to the full-capacity and the only place where we could sit was the steps in between two bays!

Dil To Pagal Hai

After a long time, I was back home by 7:30 itself in the evening, thanks to an early Sanjay’s concert today. Doing channel-surfing, I saw ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ was the movie coming on Set Max. Among Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kucch Kucch Hota Hai & Dil To Pagal Hai, Dil To Pagal Hai (and the songs of the movie too) used to be my favourite for a long time till one fine day when I got bored of it after seeing it telecast on TV so often.

Seeing it today after a long time, I thought I would watch it for a few minutes and change the channel. But I couldn’t stop watching it at all! :O The whistling of are re are ye kya hua, the BGM, the songs (I just love Dil To Pagal Hai, Are Re Are and Koi Ladki Hai), Udit Narayan at his best, the chemistry between Shahrukh and Madhuri, Madhuri and Karishma’s dance for ‘The Dance of Envy’ track, Madhuri’s salwar kameezs and the colours of some of her costumes and lots more! Watching this movie now has taken my memory back to my school days when this movie used to be a part of so much of chats with friends. 🙂

I still can’t believe that it has been a couple of hours since I switched on the computer to write about Sanjay’s concerts and instead have ended up writing this post now! :O Oops break has got over. Have to get back to watching the movie. 😉 Cya!

6:30 pm – 9:45 pm: Sanjay Subrahmanyan’s Concert at Vani Mahal (Superb concert as usual!!)

Happily did sabha-hopping to my heart’s content all through the day! 😀

It’s Friday! Yay! ;)

Waking up feeling so fresh (this is surely not a thing that happens often on a working day 😛 ), with Dad deciding to drop me at office, me happily listening to Sanjay’s Padmanabha CD (had a tough time choosing between Ghajini and Padmanabha!) and enjoying a beautiful sunrise on the way 🙂 , reaching office in record 20 min!, this day couldn’t have had a better beginning! And with a Sanjay’s concert today evening and a whole lot of concerts/lec-dems, including a concert of Sanjay, lined up during the weekend, the next couple of days is surely going to be even better with me doing a lot of sabha-hopping! Just thinking about it has got me even more charged up that I cannot wait to finish my work soon and leave!

Btw, this morning, yet again, I started feeling that it’s high time I started driving the car. 😐 It would be great coming to office in your own vehicle without having to hurriedly get ready every morning worrying all the time about missing the bus! And with good music for company, it would be even great!
