What say?
I was chatting with my friend and she said that she read my post on sarees. She was surprised that many guys had read that post and commented and then this is what she had to say:
“they still had the patience to read the post abt designer sarees
seems they are not as bored of sarees as we think”
I now want to know what you guys have to say about her last statement.
And while I am at it, let me thank you all for patiently reading my post on sarees. ![]()

Hi Aparna,
Hmmm… well, I love picking sarees for all the women in my family. There is no point in standing or sitting in a corner for hours, you see.
Am not sure if I would feel this way after my marriage, LOL… Time will tell…
Have a nice evening, sleep well… cheers…

Well, I, for one, didn’t understand much of the post and gave up reading half way
As for me, I prefer not to have anything to do with dresses - be it a shirt or a saree!

Yeah! we don’t mind picking sarees… once in a while though :)… I remember the first time when we returned to Madras from US, I wanted to buy a particulr color silk saree for my wife… I had the color in my mind, but couldn’t find the saree. we searched in t.nager, adayar at least 10-15 shops… we/I finally found that in one of the shops in t.nagar for 15K (this was 10years back). yeah! I am not sure if we would do the same thing again when we visit next time (with 2 kids to take care now :)) . It would make it easy if detailed online catalog is availabe.
hmmm!!! now that I know about this designer saree trend, I can forsee what is awaiting during our next visit… (50K? wow! thats little too much!!!). At the same time, I am happy that life style in Madras has improved so much that ppl can afford even such expenseive saree.
thanks for the post.

Dear Aparna,
I don’t mind reading or shopping sarees for anyone in the family as I had always wondered as to how many different varieties of options women have when it comes to clothing.
Well saree in my view is the perfect dress for women and I do beleive it signifies womenhood,it truly signifies beauty so that was the reason I read the post.
Further I think as single one has not yet experienced the troubles of shopping with a girl or women (ofcourse yes with my mother at times) so I had no issues…
Regards

i wont mind selecting a designer saree.. back then when people used to buy traditional sarees.. it was more scrutinzed by the old junta of the family after the purchase..
these days its the designer sarees which is welcomed by the old junta saying that they saw this actress wearing it … while the old one is still being scrutinized the same way…
Moreover most of the gals prefer to buy a cheaper alternative to the expensive silk sarees so that they could use them more frequently when compared to keeping the silk sarees in safe
a traditional sarees makes a gal look uber traditional
and wearing a jeans makes a gal look modern ( atleast in the family circles )
well on wearing a Designer sarees makes her a contemporary… and she is supposed to be the happening when there is a family get together …
p.s: you can’t prevent the scrutinization but one can surprise the scrutinizers with new designs

I find it very interesting that your friend thought guys are bored of sarees. Whatever gave her the idea? I guess she just hasn’t met all the kinds of guys yet
Although I understand that it is not feasible for girls to wear sarees everyday (and indeed they might not want to even), I still like to see them in sarees once in a while ;). I think the saree is a very sexy dress, and your friend is spot on that we are not as bored as she thinks we are.
However, as far as your post on designer sarees is concerned, my interest was more from the sociological angle, as my comment on that post showed. In the third para itself, you had started a temporal comparison of saree wearing habits, which caught my eye, and I read on.

Sarees are the sexiest dress that females have got. So, no fuzz in selection process.

Naane,
Welcome to my blog! 10-15 shops? :O You must have lots of patience!
By the way, just because a saree is being sold at 50K doesn’t mean lots of people can afford it.
Sreekrishnan,
Thank you! Sneha & Sushmita Sen stylea?
Priya,
Do write
That’s great!

Seeing the comments here, I am sure she will never think again that guys are bored of sarees
I got that.
Vijay,

You seem to be the odd ones here
